While I have mention Linux to people, the only ones I convert are my dad and a few friends of mine that got tired of having me reinstalling WinXP all the time for them. They ask me to install what I using on their computers.
I'm strictly Linux only at home however when I do need Windows (which hasn't happened once in probably two years) I will install it in a virtual machine temporarily. I'm not afraid of becoming less proficient in using Windows because I'm still surrounded by it elsewhere (work, friends computers I work on etc).
I had convinced my ex to switch to Linux for quite a long time but a while after we split she switched to Mac OS, lol, at least it's still unix based.
I only use Linux and have done for about the past year. What Microsoft offer users now is garbage. Microsoft have zero innovation and no taste. Linux development is years ahead of Microsoft now.
over the years i have used a plethora of OSs. Currently I run Fedora (21 and 22) on my family laptops, CentOS v7.x on my media/file server, sadly all of my OSx boxes have finally died *cry*, and I have a single MS computer to access my Ti calculator functions, and to play WoW. The only game I play.
MS Win7 is used exclusively for: WoW, Ti Calculator, Multi-sim. The last two applications have no full viable FOSS replacement. Shame really, yes there are a few spice programs out there, but they pale in comparison with Multi-sim and there is no Linux support for the Ti Nspire calculators and it will not function via VM's either. Ti did something to clog up the USB ports for VMs to prevent their calculators from connecting via VMs.
I've only used linux since 1999. Before that I was using Microware's OS9, a unix like program. I have never had a copy of Windows on my computer, that is notfor long.
Distribution: Linux Mint 9, Linux Mint 17.2(xfce), LMDE2(Mate), Debian Jessie minimal (with standalone OBox)

Me too, me too, and loads of Linux, 2 on my old P4 desktop and 4 versions on my laptop! And none of them have ever crashed despite my very scanty acquaintance with Bash.
All my PC's, [ 2 lappy's, 2 Desktops], use linux. It's been windows free here for just over 4 years and I don't miss it at all. LibreOffice 5 takes care of the M$ stuff easily enough. I would have dropped XP earlier but I had purchased a copy of AutoCAD LT back in 2002 and Q-cad and Freecad, etc, just didn't cut the mustard then. Now there are excellent replacements for CAD out there that are free. I tried putting XP SP3 on a VM, with an AV and firewall installed ... slow as molasses. So I just took it off of the VM and that was it. I bought a new laptop about 9 months ago with Win 8 on it. That lasted about 9 days and it was removed and replaced with Lubuntu with some KDE add-ons. Printers not a problem... HPLIP makes the job of printing easy. And I'm not a gamer so no need for steam or anything in that regards. Watching Videos on CD ... simple if you now how to set it up, etc.
Using Ubuntu for the last 2 years nearly. Im glad to see how linux has developed quite well over the years. The forums used to be filled with questions as to - my this hardware isnt getting detected, my that hardware isnt getting detected. I see less of that now and more of technical questions rather, so kudos to the kernel developers. Also since Valve ported a couple of my favorite games to Linux, I havent seen windows in a long time. feeling great , my current configuration is dual boot between slackware64 14.1 and ubuntu 14.04.
I normally use only Slackware in my daily activities, but I run a variety of systems for various purposes.
A long time ago I dropped the silly, childish, ignorant, and egotistical notion that one system is superior to others. I run FreeBSD, Windows Server, Windows Client, Slackware, Solaris, LFS, OpenIndiana, FreeDOS, iOS, Android, Windows Mobile, and a few other various systems for various purposes. All have strengthes and weaknesses. All have good and bad points.
I have learned one valuable lesson with software and operating systems, and that lesson is very similar to what martial artist Bruce Lee said about the power of the fluid and his style Jeet Kun Do. I have learned one must be flexible, ready to change as needed, never confined to a single instance, and always willing to evolve.
until gaming improves and either autodesk inventor or solidworks are available on linux (the linux alternatives are crap in comparison) i will be forced to have windows installed somewhere, on at least one device
