I still dual boot this laptop with Windows 8.1 (will upgrade to 10 when it comes out) so that I've another place to watch Amazon Video, use the aforementioned Adobe software and in case I have to interface with any kind of "smart phone" or similar or have other software I have to use.
My desktop only boots Debian Sid with the occasional Slackware or other dual-boot -- though I haven't done that in a while. I use that for watching video and music and messing on the internet mainly.
This thread just reminded me it has been at least a couple of weeks since I booted into Windows and that was just for updates so I'd better reboot now and get it patched...

Totally Linux. Can't remember exactly when I ditched Windows, but I've never missed it.

I have been using Linux (& BSD) since 1999, & have not missed anything, apart from the 'blue screen of death'. :)

There's always the BSOD screensaver. :)

I've not bought windows since windows 95, but ran 98 up until about 2004 (alongside Mandrake Linux) - then switched from 98 to XP. Finally got rid of windows for good around 2008 and haven't run it at home since - but have to use it at work (currently 8.1). I think it can be useful to have it around in case someone else needs to use it for something specific, but these days I would not be willing to either pay for it, nor jump through all the hoops to obtain and run any kind of pirate copy.

linux only since i started using it (2011) (*).
i have always been using used hardware, which usually required reinstalling the os anyway (who wants to clean up the cruft of some unknown previous owner?).
it was kind of a small step from installing windows to installing linux (and it gave me one important wisdom: installing windows is neither easier nor harder than installing a linux distro, but it takes much longer).

(*) this is a lie, actually. i have had all sorts of setups - but about half of the time i was without any windows installation, not even virtual. it never felt important one way or the other, but there are occasions when it's good to have windows around. about twice a year.

I have windows for my wife and kids because it allows me to boil down my desktop support commitments to "Just Reboot it, that didn't work? I'll pull down the back-up when I get home, Sweetheart".

I have a MAC laptop they handed me on this latest contract because it's a dev/ops clown school populated by ruby fanboys who can't deploy a product inside a maintenance window to save their souls. They see nothing wrong with inserting extraneous keys into my keyboard. As the progger running that catastrophe likes to tell me " ...but Macintosh is just so much more convenient." He never adds "for me" at the end though.

I'm banging this out on a physical Slackware-Current server (the mighty Kahuna), so can I still be part of the club?

I did stick virtual box on it with a 14.1 image for my 15 year old daughter who claims to want to be a programmer... Where did I go wrong?

I don't have linux-only on everything, but I have 2 laptops that have no Windows install, and they're my most heavily used laptops. I game too much for my desktop to ever be free of Windows, since every game I play is Windows only (mostly through Steam).

Back during the WinXP/ Vista days it was far easier and quicker to install Linux. I only had installed Win8 twice.

Erased my Windows 10 system a few weeks ago 'cos I got bored of the updates taking all afternoon and the lack of transparency and user control.

Haven't missed it at all.

I dumped my last Windows installation 3 years ago, when I discovered that my only use of it for the prior two years had been to update it.
