Lightbulb Have you tried Pinta instead of GIMP ??

Hi Monty,

I noticed this...

Why do you prefer an old version of Gimp? And which one? I've been using it for about 18 months

"but I only do the basics with it."

I used Pinta a few times, but if I could use Paint.net via wine, I would.

I tried to get Paint.net to work on Ubuntu 16 / Wine a while ago but to no avail.

Regards,
Cam.

linux Mint

I used to try different distros but these days my go-to distro for stability and ease of use is Linux Mint

Post Software installed immediately after setting up Linux Desktop system.

I am new to Linux Distro, and I am severely tech challenged.
However, as asked in the thread/post, I have tried Linux Ubuntu, Mint, Zorin, Elementary OS, and back to Linux Ubuntu. Dual boot with my windows 8.1. Software I install after setup - Network Manager - if not available
Opera Browser
Thunderbird
Media player - VLC

first add on software

The first thing I install after the initial Linux installation is Google-Chrome. In spite of the privacy concerns, our commitment to the Google infrastructure makes it necessary.

My very first application after and even before installing (to take notes about my new install) is Zim which is for me one of first three with Firefox often shipped in Debian and ClawsMail.

I want to tell about Leafpad and Geany as well
and mpv, youtube-dl and Audacious for fun ;-))

The whole inside of Debian/XFCE !

Hi,

I like to use 'LibreOffice' so I install AlienBOB's package. Slackware64 DE KDE does have 'Calligra' but I have been using LibreOffice and am very comfortable.

Have fun & enjoy!

Off-topic: if you believe in free software, why would you run non-free hardware?
