Firefox comes with Ubuntu.

- Terminator
- Vim
- Synaptic
- Chromium & Opera
- VLC
- GIMP & Inkscape
- Furius Iso Mount + Brasero
- Git, Cacher
- Tusk (Notetaking app that works with Evernote), Atom, Sublime
- JDK 8 & 11, Eclipse, Android Studio (with SDK and Emulator etc.)
- Filezilla, Brackets
- Local LAMP-stack (Apache, PHP, MySQL, phpMyAdmin)
- VirtualBox
- Wine, Winetricks and PlayOnLinux

Most of the time. I'm going trough this list after a fresh OS install.

I can answer this with a resounding "It depends."

It depends on what the distro includes by default. With that caveat, Fluxbox, VLC, Vivaldi (which I quite like and use as a secondary browser after Firefox), w3m, vim (if it's not included), and KDE (for the applications).

I am an LFS user. During set up my desktop, I install tons of softwares. Setting up my desktop is ine of the goal. After setting up, I have less things to do. Hmm, Oh, I install games after the set up.

Except not installed by default apps but available in any Linux repo I install:
- Google repo and G apps
- InSync (payed) to sync with GDrive
- CrossOver for Windows compatibility
- AirPlay to stream to AppleTV
- TS-Doctor to clean Sat TV recordings

System Monitor to panel; Thunderbird; ensure the office program is LibreOffice, ensure I have Chromium, Slimjet and Firefox browsers; PlayonLinux and MS Office 2010 (no option when one works in publishing); Dropbox; GIMP; GParted; Adobe Reader 9 (as well as Document Viewer), PDF Shuffler; Master PDF 4; Sticky notes; ensure VLC Media player is there; KPatience.
