View Poll Results: Which Browser do you use to post on LQ?
Nah, if you just double tap the submit button by accident you sometimes get a double post, no biggie.
Offhand, to re-inforce what Kewpie stated, altogether extremely mildly for Kewp (?!?!), I think this is the third browser poll I've run accross. Come on guys, you know with this much coffeetable chatter only one thing can happen?
First off, The Konq camp teams up with netscape, the big lizards (mozilla), and crushes Galeon. Then IE takes over Opera and steals the Gecko rendering engine from the team of 3l33t geeks deep in the San Andreas foothills. Soon after that MS invades Poland, Mara ends up really ticked off, and I don't want to see that; and then what happens? Browser Wars II.
Yep, first post of a deranged morning after the first night of DSL in a year. Whew... oh, yeah, I voted Opera, which is still the niftiest toy I've dealt with.
yeah, I know, I should have done a search first, I am sorry for a somewhat double/triple (or more) post. I will try to keep those #"s down to single posts, sorry guys.
BTW, I have been using different ones since I started this thread, and I have now switched to Galeon. This is of course because I just didn't feel like downloading and installing Opera again. I have also, in the meantime, used Lynx for the first time. If anyone hasn't yet, you should really try it!! It's a console based browser! It's really cool though. Give it a try!
I really like Galeon as a feature rich browser only, and I also like Konqueror, particularly Version 3.0, but quite frankly, I use Netscape, by far, the most often. particularly when I'm using Lycoris Desktop/LX, which I use as my base daily desktop system. When I'm using Mandrake or Libranet (Debian) two of my other favorite distros, I'm much more inclined to use Galeon. I do, however, at least on occasion, use all of the browsers sited in your survey.
Mozilla as usual browser
I'm using mozilla 1.2.1 standard included with RH9.0.
Very nice thanks to its smoothed fonts (thanks xft)
Opera for more critical missions
When it comes to websites fully respecting W3C that Mozilla sometimes can't display correctly, this is the right choice. Appealing themes as well.
Konqueror for flexible ID
When wanting to go on my bank website (you know, for web banking) Konqueror tries to play its role not badly as it offers the possibility to make him being identified as an Explorer 5.5 on Win2000 for instance.
VERY useful when web banking with a website only developped for M$ stuff.
Though, since some weeks none of them is granting me access to my web banking anymore ... even when identified as Explorer 5.5 on Win2000 or Explorer 6.0 on WinXP and so on.
I assume thanks to the Javascript debugger console that there lies the problem. There's somewhere a Javascript error that blocks me to execute some banking orders.
You do realize you are just double posting or better yet, are more like spamming the site with the same post on every single browser thread.
I know I made a list of links due to the ongoing debate on a closed thread issue in General, but this is not necessary for you to post in every single thread I linked as being a "Best Browser" type thread with the same post. That is called SPAM.
Wow, there's a billion browser threads. But this one has a different twist than most.
All the browsers I can think of having used are Arachne in DOS; Mosaic, IE, Netscape, Mozilla, Phoenix, K-Meleon, Lynx in Windows3/9/NT and Lynx, Links, Dillo, and Opera - and Netscape, I think - in Linux. And due to circumstances I haven't been able to completely work out, I surf almost exclusively on NT and, other than playing with stuff, exclusively use Mozilla, which I love. Got 1.0 about the day it came out, though I missed the earlier ones, and am now using 1.3 beta - I'll get 1.4 eventually. Kind of ironic that I use Mozilla like that but none of my Linux distros ever had it, I haven't downloaded it, and I probably couldn't use it if I did. When I manage to surf in Linux I use Lynx mostly. So Mozilla and Lynx.
I'm still getting the hang of this thing, but I strongly suspect my answer would have been/will be w3m. I just downloaded this thing last night and installed it today. It's incredible. X? What's X?
Sorry if this post comes out screwed up. I need to go reread the man pages and docs - carefully this time - but I was too excited.
I typically use mozilla but I'm trying to do more with the cli.
Right now I am using lynx. Its different, well comapared to what
I'm used to. Very fast though without loading all of
the images.
