whether segment's are specific to each processes

Hi Techies,

When compiling the source code, logical address is created based on the architecture. In this, logical address consist of both the segment identifier and offset. Using the segment cs,ds,ss for this process effectively, it is pointed by the segment descriptor of 32 byte. Here, my question is, segment descriptor is created for all the process or available descriptors only shared between all processes.

Thanks,
Kesavaraj.

Its all virtual ie the kernel/OS makes it look like each prog (actually process) has the whole machine to itself.
