The "Trash" (Recycle Bin) does exist, but only in a GUI environment (like KDE).
In KDE, if you delete files using the file browser (Konqueror), these files are moved to the Trash.
However, if you delete files at the command line using the rm command, these files are not moved to the trash, they are deleted.

ya.. I just installed Mandrake 9.2 / KDE 3.1, about few days ago and just noticed after seeing this message that the trash is missing. I use KDE 3.1. But trash was there with the version of KDE that came with Mandrake 8.2 . Now I put 9.2 where'd it go??
If you can follow instructions well, check out libtrash - it provides a system wide trash can library, no matter what you are doing, it'll save anything you delete. Unfortunatly, it requires compiling a library, and installing it correctly, and doing some config editing. Also, it requires you to install and cron a perl script to clean out trash to make sure it doesn't become really really bloated
But, it you are up to it, give it a try, it works just as advertised, I love it.
