Where is Gnome???

Here

I just installed Red Hat Linux 7.0, and I'm using the Loadlin utility to get to it. I CLEARLY remember installing Gnome. That means I should be getting a Graphical desktop and all that stuff... but all I get is a command line interface. I hate CLI. Can someone give me a clue as to where my Gnome desktop is and how I can get to it?

THanks in advance.

if the X configured properly typing startx at the command promp (after you login) would do the trick.

Linux help

The Frog,

As a Linux newbie myself I know exactly what you are going thru installing the OS for the 1st time. Before deciding on Mandrake I fiddled with at least 5 distro's and have reloaded Mandrake probably 10 times after screwing something up. (and I think Mandrake is pretty hard to screw up)This forum is a great place for help with problems but if I could make one suggestion. From what I have been able to determine Linux is a very well documented OS. All distro's seem to have manuals readily available for download. Since you are using Redhat 7.0 I would start with the manuals available at http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/. They may help you answer your questions more quickly. Sometimes I also do a Google search for help and am able to find the answers. I'm not suggesting you not to post questions just giving you another avenue to get the solutions. Good luck and happy Linuxing!!!!!!

Steve
