GUI running lots of terminals!

I'm pretty much always running an X server, but often times if there's something that needs to be done quickly and effectively (e.g. mass file management), I'll pull up an X terminal.

I have on occasion dropped to runlevel 3 on my Arch desktop, but that's really only because I have a 1280x1024 framebuffer console enabled with it. I loves the extra text space! :D

If only I could have the same thing with this laptop... :( I've searched Google to no avail. The native display res is 1366x768, a not-quite-16:9 aspect ratio (by calculation), but it fits 720p 16:9 videos just fine in fullscreen... In any case, I get the feeling that it's because the display has a "non-standard" aspect ratio/resolution that I can't use a proper framebuffer console at the native resolution.

Terminal here, though I must say working on a laptop or netbook with a trackpad just about gives you the best of both worlds.

I use cli to update the system and install programs...gui for everyday surfing etc.

console

it's a server so an xwindow system would take up too much resources for my liking.

love to use both, but shell is much faster and i didn't had to take my hands off the keyboard.. and that way , work can be done on any gui as different desktop managers have different tools for doing the thing while every flavor have same command for it... :)
