Yes, but this needs glibc 2.2 and RedHat 9 uses glibc 2.3, I am told it won't work and have have the same experience when trying it. I'm a newbie so any help is good help.

Did you download the correct version ?

Go to this link
You need to download the rh9 RPM that matches your architecture.
Example: wine-20030813-1rh9winehq.xxx.rpm

theres an rpm built specifically for redhat 9 and its available from the sourceforge site that someone already stated....and another thing is, is that its not saying you need glibc2.2 otherwise it won't work, in turn i am willing to bet it is saying you need :
glibc >= glibc 2.2
which means glibc 2.3 is obviously not an issue...

and do you have the fake windows drive directory structure setup ? something along the lines of:
/home/USER/.wine/c/Windows/
/home/USER/.wine/c/Program\ Files
and all the subdirectories within them folders?
what are some errors you get when you try to run an app?

Yes, I do, but I can't remember the errors because I use Windows for the internet and RedHat as an experiment until my Linux modem arrives.
