Unhappy Whats wrong with my network or router?


We'll i dont know how to explain this but sometimes my internet goes off like just off!!! i dont know why!!


the only way to fix it is to unplug my router and pluging it back in!!! why is that ? do you think my router is goin bad!!???? is a Linksys router!!


Marbe i overload it!!! wut you think!

the first thing to try is a different ethernet cable.

Unhappy i did that!!

i bought everysingle cable yesturday and 2 new net card and still the same!!! i dont know if is my hub, rouer, or cable modem!!

can you test the router from another computer on the subnet when the problem occurs? if all boxes lose the connection behind the router then you know it's the router or cable modem.

what about just running your box straight into the cable modem to eliminate the router?

also, if restarting the router fixes the problem, did you try to narrow the issue by instead restarting the network on your linux box when the problem occurs?

also how's your router firmware doing?

if you did all this obvious stuff you might try another cheap router. i've had bad luck with linksys.

Angry i think ur right!!

i think your right!! i've tried everything you said!! and yes all 19 computers on the network loose connection to the internet!!

i guess ima have to but another router!! man i hate when that heppens!! especially when you wanna show off you site !! but since your router is down!!
and and how about when your emerging stuff on gentoo.. and your router dies halfway the download!!!!

danm well thanks i really appreciate it!! ill make this computer into a router for a while!!! i cant leave the rest of the people on my builiding withoug internet!!

cable at 8.9MB shared with 19 people on my builing via fiberoptic!! they each pay me 20$ a month and i pay 55$ a month for internet it all good!!!

when this happened to me i tried IPCOP and was back up and smiling in under a half hour, it would take me years build a similar firewall! good luck with your configing.
