Whats the solution to remove spam at the server site?

Dear friends,

Wondering if there is a way to combat spam effectively at the server side?
We are currently using sa-learn however the spams are still coming in.

I have all the spams in a folder and all I did was to cron the following command:

/usr/bin/sa-learn --spam /spammails

what went wrong for me? thanks for taking time helping!
