hi guys, i am a noob to linux and i wanna get started already!
i have an amd 64bit cpu and a geforce 6800gt gf card and i play lots of games, so i need a distro that takes advantage my cpu but also is noobfriendly and able to play games...like having wine/winex pre-installed or smthng..
can u tell me what should i get?
what linux os and which distro?
thanks for your help
i know it comes to a personal choice but i just wanna know which distro comes with 64bit and wine/winex ready...i see gentoo is pretty good as well as suse..
what do you think?
if any gamer can get an opinion over this it would be helpfull
You will not be able to download a distro with winex/cedega already installed. Mandrake used to produce a gamers pack which came with winex and The Sims, but I think that is discontinued now.
Libranet and Xandros have Wine installed, but only if you buy the distro. The download ones don't have it.
If you want to take advantage of hardware, gentoo's probably best for you, though I'm not sure you could call it "n00b-friendly". The capacity for playing games doesn't differ much from distro to distro (it's mostly your capacity to get Wine to obey you), though make sure you can get your distro to take full advantage of your hardware.
