View Poll Results: What is your favorite desktop distro?
LL is the best distro for older systems that I've found to date. It breathes new life into low resources and dated hardware making them able to be used for a considerably longer time.
I suspect that most people's favourite distro is simply the one that they're used to. Certainly that's why I voted for CentOS: I've always used the Red Hat familty, apart from a few unhappy weeks with Debian. The only trouble will be when I have to migrate to version 7. I'm not letting Gnome 3 near my computer, so unless CentOS gets better at Xfce, it will be over to Salix for the desktop as well as the laptop.

I've been running XFCE on CentOS 7 since it came out...no complaints here, what problems are you seeing?
Did you catch this article by Dedoimedo on CentOS 7 and Xfce?
Thanks for that! It illustrates my point, though: to get Xfce working properly, he had to also install Mate: who would have thought of that? Actually, I thought you needed to have Gnome alongside Xfce. He also needed to get pavucontrol from Fedora to get his sound to work, while I can do it with a Gnome 2 applet.
