What is the most important task that should be performed on the Unix server?

As the System Administrator - What is the most important task that should be performed on the Unix server? Why?

i have noticed that you are asking alot of questions about unix or linux.. some of the answers might benefit you from maybe reading a book on unix or linux...

i am not trying to be rude, but some of these seem like test questions.

I don't get ur question.
What do u mean by most important task ??
I guess it depends on the requirements.

BTW don't u think that sys admin must know wot he iz doin and supposed to do in the first place before he/she becomes one?

I'm a sys admin (root) of my Linux box (a standalone PC)
and I don't do any "most important task"

It really depends on it's function.

If it's a file server for critical data it would be backups.

For obvious reasons.
