What is the "Bulk Data"?

Hi There;
I am reading a book about data security, and there is a sentence as follows:

Quote:

Symmetric cryptography algoritms are DES, 3DES, Rjindael (AES), RC2; and they primarily use for Bulk data encryption.
What is the "bulk data"? Thanks in advance.

Here it means big data sizes in KB, MB and so on.

Symmetric Ciphers are fast in doing encryption of big data.
While asymmetric Ciphers are not. E.g. RSA, Elgamel, Idea

Read that as "a great volume of data".
