what do you want to learn?
The basic GUI on most distros is fairly self explanatory.
If programming, you need to learn the cmd line (cli) so start with opening up a terminal (xterm) and reading these

Just use it! That's the best way! Try to do your regular jobs on linux. Like using Office tools, internet browsing ... In less than month you can become a linux expert!

And ofcorse, don't forget to ask your questions here!

I would definately advise you to install Linux and have a go at it. You will find it a daunting task especially if you are coming from a windows environment but within no time you will get the hang of it. PLus there are tonnes of material and tutorial even in this forum that will walk you towards gaining a firm understanding on the topic. Its up to you to select which distro you wanna install and the rest will follow. Cheers mate and kudos for choosing linux. another win for Open source!

The best way to learn linux is:
1) Install it.
2) Use it at least for two months. During that period avoid using other operating systems, and solve all problems yourself (read documentation, or search for answers).
