what is now the replacement to libgtk1.2-dev (oldlib)?

what do you mean "replacement"?? gtk2 superceded gtk+ about 4 years ago now, but it's not compatible with it, it's a full reimplementation with different libraries.

also this is wholly unrelated to the kernel you are running.
