What is a Linux compatible modem?

Is there a Linux compatible modem (easy to configure) that can easily be found on Amazon or other popular site? I have a WinModem, but I don't know how to configure that.

Thanks.

I used a serial Creative Modem Blaster. Any modem that specifies that it's controller based will work.

virtually any external serial modem, you get to look at blinking LED's as well

winmodems are software besed, there is a project called linmodem, but I never used it, google that and I think there is a how-to to get them working, look at the linux documentaion project.

I also found external modems to be faster anyway.

when i was on dial-up (only last week, actually) i used a zoom serial modem i picked up at staples...worked right out of the box...i think it cost maybe 40 bucks? but well worth it...

like stealth said tho...pretty much any serial modem should work for you.

If you're on broadband, a modem you plug into your computer via ethernet will work great
