What is 686?

Hi, I was just wondering if someone could tell me exactly what a 686 processor is. From my understanding it is anything that is Pentium 4 and up? Am I right? If so, will Yoper still install on a Pentium 3 since it is built for 686? Thx, ttyl

686 is pentium-pro and later (P2, K7, etc.), so yes, it will work. In general, if processor supports cmov instruction (check in /proc/cpuinfo), then it's 686.
