>>>The process for the file protocol died unexpectedly<<<
I get this repeatedly when I try to copy / past or cut / paste from my ext3 hd to my fat32 hd. The 3 files I am attempting to transfer are all ISO (image) files....a total of about 4.8 gigs.
System Specs: Primary HD: Windows XP Pro with NTFS partition, FAT32 partition
Secondary HD: Linux MEPIS 3.43
2.4 ghz proc. 1 gig ram.
Since "file size" differs depending upon what format you use (e.g., in my case ext3 vs fat32) I can't tell if it is done transfering the data to my fat32 drive or not. . .though the file sizes on each hd are pretty close when I get the message.
Any thoughts? This has to be recent....I have never noticed it before and have not made any recent changes to my Windows or Linux set-up.
Perhaps this is due to the max file size limitation in fat32, which is 4GB-1byte according to this. Try to copy your files one by one (assuming each one is <4GB) and see what happens.
