What are these processes: pipstoprinter and kdeinit

As I was looking through my new kde 3.1.5, I noticed that things were really sluggish. I looked at kde system guard and didn't find anything abnormal. So I ran top from the console and saw the user lp was using about 90% of my cpu with three seperate entries. The command for each entry was "pipstoprinter." As root, I ran "killall pipstoprinter" and that took care of it. I have never seen this before. Does anybody know what it is?

Also, I have about 15 kdeinit processes running. What does this process do that it needs so many of itself.
Thanks.

kdeinit is a process for starting off kde programs and services. All kde processes are children of kdeinit. This makes startups and linking faster/easier.
