What's your preferred way to monitor RAID? mdadm?

Hello,

Please excuse my English.
I want to be notified if a drive goes bad on my system. Because I have RAID 0+1 enabled, the drive keeps functioning fine, even if a drive goes bad. So I am worried I won't know about problems.

What is your preferred way to monitor RAID? mdadm?

If it matters, I am running a Dell PowerEdge 2850, with an LSI Logic SCSI RAID Controller card. I use hardware RAID 0, and software for the RAID 1 layer (open to commentary on that also).

thanks you,
Mat
