weird terminal title

Hello,

When I cat some binary file, my terminal title goes weird. How do I put the title back again?

Code:
echo -en "\e]0;$TITLE_TEXT\007"
Oh, btw, when I googled for "xterm escape sequences", this was the first hit. Wow, all these new-fangled searching-wotchamacallits, what'll they think of next, eh?

Or try a soft/hard reset of your terminal window, via the menu (if it has one).
This is safer than just resetting the title, as your "cat" may have screwed up other terminal settings too.

In all fairness to the OP, you'd have to know that "xterm escape sequences" was what to search for.

Well, OK.

Also:

'reset' (or 'echo -en "\0330c"') will reset the terminal if the character set has been bodged (i.e. it's displaying graphical characters).

'stty sane' will reset terminal settings to, well, sane values.
