Angry Weird looking text

For some reason many of my fonts looks weird in Mandrake. Here's a sample of Arial when it's small: ricky133.no-ip.com/upload/text.jpg (this URL limiting business in annoying. Add http)

I've installed most of the microsoft fonts from my windows installation. And font anti-aliasing is on (at least the checkbox in control center says it is). Also some larger fonts are not properly aligned vertically, like they are staggered. Any idea what the problem could be?

Your fonts are a bit small, but not unduly so

I took a look at your jpg image, and it actually looks fine on my system. I run my monitor at 1024x768 pixels, usually at 70 Hz. Using those settings, I could see your stuff fine.

I've installed extra fonts on my Mandrake system and enabled font aliases, too. Can't recall that I've run into problems. Will have to think about this a bit. Perhaps something simple will come to mind.

heheh...well heres what it *should* look like: ricky133.no-ip.com/upload/text2.JPG

Hopefully you can see the difference now. The first one is distorted. Many fonts are slightly distorted like this.

Both versions look OK to me. I've even had a chance to experiment a bit with my signature and add some links as I've edited my responses, so hey, you've helped me out in a roundabout way! :-)
