webcam on rh 8.0
 

ok i did a search and read all the info you guys gave to other people about this, but i still have a couple quick (hopefully) questions

i have a PII 450 running on an intel 440bx2 motherboard running redhat 8.0 at the moment.

i also have a cheap webcam that i got for free from best buy (after rebate) awhile back that is plugged in to the usb on the computer.

and i know all of 0% of what that means, but i added it because it looks like it helped someone identify their cam and weather it would work or not.

this box is my home server, it does dns, web, email and some other light duties. it replaced my win2k backoffice server awhile back which was running the cam through a proggie that would stream the video over my webstie, which i thought was quite cool. id really like to get this up and working on linux now and was wondering:

a) is this possible to do the same kind of thing, where a program could stream live video over a web address

b) will this el cheapo cam work (where can i go to find out)

c) if it wont what cam should i buy (hopefully under 50$USD dont need anything good <=30fps@352x288 is just fine (it just points out my window all day)) and what software do i need to get it to stream over apache?

Not too sure what to make of the hardware.
