webcam

hello,
I recieved a generic webcam from a friend and was hoping to set it up. There are no markings on the USB camera to show who makes it. All it contains is a marking on the bottom:
UW10TNC-1250VUE

Now, after some googling I established that this can lead someone to find the correct drivers...althought the site was in Japanese and mentioned a dead link for windows drivers.

I have never done something like this, so I was hoping for some pointers/clarifications. I'm confused about some terminology - for example, video4linux (is this needed for any video stuff 4 linux, or from what i understand so far, its used in networking your webcam - something I dont plan to do). I know I'll need to compile usb-uhci support in, but I don't know if I need video4linux and any other drivers (remember, this is a unmarked webcam). Any suggestions / links on how to get this going?

Did I miss something? need some more info? i run devian sarge/ 2.4.20. Again, never did something like this, but would be glad to put it on my resume.

When all else fails build all the USB modules you can and try to load them. When you plug the camera in you should get something informational in the logs - maybe post that here to see if anybody recognizes anything.
