webbrowsing much slower in linux?

I dont know maybe its my set up.

But i find that my web browsing on linux is noticeably slower then when I'm in windows. The same site with many images would load much slower in Linux. Is this the same with anyone else or just me?

This could depend on a lot of things...

What desktop are you running?
What browser?
How much RAM?
Is your system swapping (using hard-disk as RAM) when you load a big page?
What video card? Is it properly configured?

What browser are you using is my first question? Have you tried Mozilla Firebird? I bet it is faster than IE. Also have you tried Opera?

Couple of comparison questions:

Is the Linux OS and Windows OS on the same system?
Is the Linux OS and Windows OS using the same ISP?

You will need to eliminate many of the 'variables' that can make a difference. If everything is exactly the same, except the OS then see if there is something that is not correct with the OS.
