Way to surf the web via web server?

Does anyone know of software that allows one to surf via their remote web server?

Not sure if I am using the correct terminology. Basically want to point my browser to a website I control and surf through it.

hmm.. might be easier to answer if we knew what you were trying to do...

you can remote desktop through a browser using something like logmein.com & surf via another computer.
you can ssh to another computer (forwarding X) and open that computer's browser on your computer's screen. Surfing then would be like surfing from the other computer
you can turn off referrers on your browser so that it doesn't appear that you're surfing from your machine even though you are.
you can use anonymizers that spoof your ip so that people can't trace your surfing.
you can setup a web site with frames where one frame points to google & surf inside just that one frame.

I don't know of any websites that act as a proxy off hand. ::shrug::

Thanks...

This sounds interesting:

"you can remote desktop through a browser using something like logmein.com & surf via another computer."

But I am on my PC client, I want to surf via linux. Any other ideas?

VNC - similar to logmein.com, though it doesn't run over port 80 & doesn't use a web browser, so if you're trying to get around a firewall or website blocker, that probably won't work.

again, if you tell us what you're doing, we may be able to give you alternatives. In the mean time, that's all I've got for you.

Here is what I am trying to do.

I am on a network with a firewall using a PC. I work a lot on this dedicated computer which is a linux and is acceptable for me to work on (it also has a firewall). I want to be able to go to that site (on the server) via my browser (firefox or IE) and from that server be able to surf to any other web sites. The URL in the browser window should still contact the name of the server as I surf with the URL's I surf to masked.

Any ideas?

vnc can run in your browser window with the java plugin which auto downloads when connecting to the vnc server.
