Is there a program that will convert a .wav file to .mp3. I want to use lame as the encoder but I don't want to do it one file at a time at the command line.
certainly, XMMS will do that, just change the plug in, in the OUTPUT section, and select the quality and select the folder you want it to appear at, , have fun!!
I've always used lame from the command line for this but I just installed audacity and I'm very impressed. You can use it to export .wavs to mp3 and ogg and it's also a good editor. I had to get past some dependencies to get audacity installed, but I found what I needed easily at rpmfind.net.
I didn't know XMMS could encode, I'll give it a try. I like GRIP but it won't import .wav files that I already have. But first a search thru freshmeat, thx guys.
