Unhappy Warning: Unable to open an initial console

Hi,
There is a problem during boot up. The machine gives the error as: "Warning: Unable to open an initial console" and everthing got stuck at that moment. What should I do to rescue the system (Redhat 7.2)???
Thanks

Boot off install CD#1 and use rescue mode. Then check that /sbin/init is OK and also /etc/inittab.

You might reinstall the associated rpm's. To find the rpm's the files belong to do this:
rpm -qf /etc/inittab /sbin/init
