vsftpd-fedora core 5-virtual users-Documentations sort of for me.

hi, this website is great so far, i have a one - one ratio on correctly answerd questions, so, heres the tie breaker.

My Problem is i need to set up vurtual users as said in the docs i read, but whejn i get to this line:
[root@beck-olastudios ~]# db_load -T -t hash -f logins.txt /etc/vsftpd_login.db
as said in:
ftp://vsftpd.beasts.org/users/cevans...L_USERS/README
i get returnd this:
bash: db_load: command not found
So, since i obviously do not have the required berkley DB, may i use the mySQL i have installed for such virtual domains? if so how may i get PAM to use the mysql DB instead of the berkley one?

Thanks

I don't believe there is a way to use MySQL.

The path and package on an earlier FC is:

[root@ugly ftp]# which db_load
/usr/bin/db_load
[root@ugly ftp]# rpm -qf `which db_load`
db4-utils-4.2.52-6

It looks like this package (db4-utils-4.3.29-2.i386.rpm) is still part of FC5, so you just need to find where it's installed or go install it (and it's dependencies).

Actually, yes

Hmm... I spoke too soon about being unable to use MySQL... vsftpd uses PAM after all. The FAQ at vsftpdrocks.org says:

Q) Help! Will vsftpd authenticate against an LDAP server? What about a
MySQL server?
A) Yes. vsftpd uses PAM for authentication, so you need to configure PAM
to use pam_ldap or pam_mysql modules. This may involve installing the PAM
modules and then editing the PAM config file (perhaps /etc/pam.d/vsftpd).
