vsftpd dead but subsys locked


when i try to stop or wanna see service status of vsftpd. then its shows this message "vsftpd dead but subsys locked"

what i done.
i.i reconfigure the vsftpd.conf file
ii. Restart the xinetd file.

Any solution ????

I don't think that you did much research. Google results for vsftpd dead but subsys locked

And please mention the distro that you use (preferably in your profile).
