vmware install dependency nightmares
I am trying to install vmware on my slackware8.1 machine.
the file i have is in rpm format and called: VMware-workstation-3.1.1-1790.i386.rpm
I try to run the file using kpackage and i get this:
Code:
<e/VMware-workstation-3.1.1-1790.i386.rpm;echo RESULT=$?
error: failed dependencies:
/bin/sh is needed by VMwareWorkstation-3.1.1-1790

libm.so.6 is needed by VMwareWorkstation-3.1.1-1790
/usr/bin/perl is needed by VMwareWorkstation-3.1.1-1790
RESULT=1
i chose not to install but to check for dependencies and test(do not install)
It seems i am required to get a whole lot of stuff!
My problem is, first is it worth even trying to get them all?, second if it is what are half of those???? and where would i get them? i dont even know what half of them (most of them) are all about.
could someone with a bit more knowledge than me please help me out here?
cheers
