VIM E514 & E297 Write Error

Hi, I'm trying to vi some files and when I open it up w/vi I get a brief "E297: Write error in swap file" then when I try to write out the buffer I get "E514: Write Error (file system full?)". I did a df and a free and there is *plenty* of space on the filesystem. Also, I have appropriate permissions to the file.
