vim and palmdoc question

I've got a palm Z22 and I copy and paste content from the web and run it through txt2pdbdoc to turn it into a pdb file and view it with eReader. My problem is that certain characters like ’ (rather than ') get translated as garbage when they get to the Z22. If I go through with gedit and replace each occurance of ’ with ' then it translates fine. But that's rather labor intensive. Does anyone know of a quick way of doing that job?

In the Search menu of gedit, there is a replace option. You can select "replace all".
