view squid's cache content

when I cd to /var/spool/squid I see all kinds of weird files that are not viewable. So I was just wondering if their was any way to view what my server is caching?

Any help appreciated

I believe there should be an access.log file somewhere, with all the in-cache objects listed...

Alternatively, you could install the Cache Manager; it's a CGI script that lets you view
the cache stats in a web browser. The FAQ at the Squid website describes how to install it and how to adjust the squid configuration so you have clearance to connect to it.

Hope this helps.

Depending on your install, it should log to /usr/local/squid/var/log/cache.log or similar which details each object being held in the cache. Or, as previously suggested, the cache manager scripts lets you browse through a web interface the stats and number / type of objects cached.
