view long file names from windows in linux

Does anyone know of a command line option for ls, or for mount, that will allow me to view my mounted win98 drives long file names in linux normally? i.e. not mydocu~1 or something like that.

I don't think files on windows harddrives ever appear as mydocu~1 on linux. Just mount and ls like you normally would. If i'm wrong, you can always do a man mount and find out, but from my experience, the mount options are usuall pretty similar. Only thing you would have to worry about is permissions.

They do if mounted as FAT .... try vfat. :}

I had that on a memory-stick just yesterday.

I have it mounted as -t msdos, which I guess makes sense now that I think about it, that's all DOS knows about the files.

And with -t vfat it's all good? :)
