very strange shell behaviour

Hi,

i have a very strange problem with my shell, just recognized it today.

I just cant type an uppercase i, that is "I".
Here in the browser, as you can see, it works, but not in the shell.

Every other key works, but there it just beeps.

Maybe it is because I changed the LC_CTYPE setting for the language
2 days ago to "de_DE@euro", but that wouldn`t make any sense...

please help, this is totally stupid

What happens if you change your LC_CTYPE back? All OK?

well, i changed it back to "C", the value it had before, but no change appeared.

So I guess it has to be something else... very very strange.

locale puts out that every setting is set to "C", now except LC_CTYPE which is now at value de_DE@euro.

But I guess it has to do with something else...

HELP

If you do "dumpkeys|grep \'I", what does it say?
("apropos dumpkeys" for more info)

I tried to copy / paste your first command you told me, but it doesnt accept the I.

All i can do is a case insensitive grep :

>> dumpkeys | grep -i "i"

compose '`' 'I' to 'Ì'
compose '`' 'i' to 'ì'
compose '\'' 'I' to 'Í'
compose '\'' 'i' to 'í'
compose '^' 'I' to 'Î'
compose '^' 'i' to 'î'
compose '"' 'I' to 'Ï'
compose '"' 'i' to 'ï'
compose 'i' 'j' to 'ÿ'
compose 'I' 'J' to '¾'

(this lines are what might have something to do with it)

But it doesnt make me any sense to me...
