VectorLinux boot image too big for floppy

Has anybody else had a problem with the the boot and root images from VectorLinuxes site being too big for the floppy drive. I tried to gzip it, but of course the computer then wouldn't recognize it as a boot. Any suggestions?

Did you write it as an image to a floppy or just copy the files over?
