Exclamation Vclass preparation

The school year begins in september, like usually...

I use a linux mandrake 9.2 computer with sound ~almost~ working.
I'm going to do some online classroom (Vclass, java coded), and I need to prepare myself for any upcoming trouble I may find *before* it begins, they don't "support" linux. I need to be my own technician...

I want to:
test the mic
test the sound (under java)

The online classroom is closed until september, I takes time to repair stuff under linux, for me, so I want to be proactive and fix stuff before the class.

Angry do I have to answer my questions myself!?

alright, alright, alright

I got my computer to capture input from the mic
I know because in alsamixer, it says "capture" on top of "mic"

I can hear myself now, in my own speaker.

I cannot record in "snd" and in "krec"

the app "Vclass" is written in java

and I got no one answering me. getting frustrated here...
I think no one is going to answer me.

Vclass is a school app, I going in training to learn how to use it, if the mic doesn't work, the tech will probally think linux is no good instead of blamming me .

let's defend the honor of linux.

mimithebrain -- I'm sorry that you haven't received any responses, but in fairness, I will assume that "Vclass" is a highly specialized program, and therefore like all specialized programs, its user base would therefore be pretty limited. Whether or not anyone from that user base would also be a member of LQ and also knows how to install and configure Vclass would be a matter of speculation, but I would imagine the intersection of these 2 groups may be pretty small in number.

While I can understand it may be frustrating to not receive a reply, I'd also like to suggest that a lack of responses should not be equated to being ignored, which is what you seem to imply. More accurately, a lack of a response simply indicates that the people who have seen your post just don't have advice to offer, or don't know how to solve the problem you have described, and that's a big difference. Obviously it would be great if every single question that got asked here was succesfully resolved, but the reality is that not every post will be fully answered to the poster's satisfaction.

I wish I had suggestions to offer, but unfortunately I do not. However, I do wish you luck with the project and I admire your support of Linux. -- J.W.

Cool ok

thank you for your reply...

(Vclass is almost the same as gnome-meeting)

I did try... I think it's not fair that after one year of using linux as a homework and school OS, I still cannot do everything windoze can do.

no harm done, no insults intended.
