Using multiple package managers

Hey guys,

I'm in the process of designing a private custom built Linux distro based off of Fedora for work...

I was wondering if I could take multiple package managers from other distros and install them in a single distro

In other words... is it possible to install Apt-get (dpkg) or yast2 on Fedora?

edit:

or better yet.. even if you got it to install, would the package system still work?

I know people use Apt (RPM version) and Yum on Fedora Core (they both presumably manage the underlying RPM system), although many repositories don't support Apt anymore because Apt doesn't support multilib. I'm not sure if people use them together, but I'm not aware of any problems. I haven't heard of people using YaST with Fedora Core stuff, but then that's just me.

it is possible to install dpkg and apt
but configuring them to actually work and use debian sources would be next to imposible
building the dpkg database is hard
and once you started using t you would destroy rpm database

for me when i install a foreign package manager it's only so i can use force on something that can't be had otherwise

thank g_d apt4rpm or whatever it's called led to rpm working more like apt anyway like with yummmmmmm

i would imagine apt4rpm was the result of the guys in south america trying to do the same thing and during that period i did see some redhat boxes that were using dpkg packages
