Using COM1 on a RedHat9.0 Linux sys. to connect to an SGI

I am trying to use my Compaq Armada which has Red Hat 9.0 Pro Installed to work as a terminal for any SGI system. I will be using COM1 on the back of the Compaq (which is a DB9 connection).

What I am looking for is a command or how to setup "uucp" so that i can accomplish this.

i am obviously new to Linux

Please let me know what you can do
