I just wondered how many readers here opt out of the default Bash shell and install an alternative shell instead?
If so, what is it you particularly like about your choice of shell and do you stick with it continually, or sometimes have to swap back to Bash to do certain stuff?
I use bash in most places, partially because it's the default shell in a lot of places, partially because I'm just so accustomed to using it. At work some machines use tcsh as the default shell, and a lot of the scripts created by people that worked there before me are written for tcsh, so there I opt for that. In the end it makes little difference what shell one uses, in my opinion, except for places with heavy use of some "special" capabilities of a certain shell.

Does the tcshell understand the full range of C/C++ functions and syntax? I just took a quick look at some script written for it and couldn't see a single curly brace anywhere! Is it a crippled version of C/C++ essentially?
