users and logging in


there is a file that lets u restrict/allow users from logging in but i forgot the name of that file and i cant find it doing a search on the form. if someone knows, please let me know.

/etc/nologin is the file, i believe.

i found it /etc/security/access.conf

ok new question now:


i have a user named jennifer that can log in at the server itself but i cant seem to ssh in. anybody know how to fix this?

in my access.conf file i added the following line:

+:jennifer:ALL

but it still doesnt work.

Hmm, this could turn out to be very interesting!

1) First off, are there any limits in the "access.conf" file?

2) And, is the user a member of any special groups?

3) And are you trying to log in from a host that is being rejected by hosts.deny?

4) are you trying to use any special shell, other than the common sh/bash?

can anyone log in via ssh? and what have you specified about this user in the access file?
