usernames with capital letters in RH9

RH9 seems to have a disliking for usernames with upper-case letters in them. How can I get upper-case letters to be permitted?

while it might be possible to hack the source to make it permit uppercase letters, this should not be what you want. In linux, all usernames are lowercase, so just stick with that.

Really? I'm using a text-only RH9 system for an FTP server instead of my horrible windows server, and some users have usernames with uppercase letters. Perhaps I could just create aliases.
