I have a Suse 10.1 box and one user cannot login in on the GUI screen. They are able to login at a TTY screen. Root and other users are able to login to the GUI just fine. When they try to login the system looks like it starting to launch KDE but then goes right back to the login screen. It does this with KDE or any of the other GUIs on the system. I tried booting the system to INIT 3 and loging in as the user and then doing "startx". It trys to start the GUI and it comes back wtih something about waiting for the X server to shut down.

Any ideas?

Investigate the user/group assignmnets. that is, are there any differences between users that can log in and the user that cannot log in? Are there group belonging differences, etc.?

I'll check that tomorrow.. I don't have access to it today. I know that that account was working fine but after a reboot this all happened.... so something has changed but not sure what.
