I'm running Gentoo Linux, kernel 2.6.12.3, and while using KDE 3.4.2, I noticed the icons stopped working. I closed KDE and decided to type
startx, like I always do to start KDE. However, it spat out to me:. So I tried to chmod +x it but it said the samething. I then tried logging out which caused it to say it could not find bash_logout. So when I tried to log back in it said it could not find /home/matt. I logged on as root and /home/matt is still there with all the files intact. I restarted my PC and it still said the same thing. What do I do? Can I salvage/fix my account?
