useful info..

from a weekly newsletter i receive from Linux Journal:
"If someone asks you for a file in Microsoft Word format, don't panic
or start to do something dumb, like dual-booting. Just convert the
file to HTML, do a cp file.html file.doc and send the ".doc" file.
Microsoft Word will automatically import it."

never knew that...

I currently tell people to resend the document in another format, like rtf, html or maybe just plain text.. also telling them if they can't do that then I won't be reading their document attached.
Just another way of stating that there are alternatives instead of just Word and its .doc
