USB CDRW Support

folks, i have an external usb cdrewriter and i find that cdrecord does not support ANY USB devices!!! i have to continue using windows just to write cds!
mine is a Mitsubishi DD4432UE -058 as seen at http://www.zdnet.com.au/shopping/pro...0024903,00.htm
so if you happen to know of any fixes, alternative programs, extra drivers, whatever... please let me know! thanks ever so, i searched a bit on the old net but to no avail whatsoever.

AFAIK usb-cdrw is not supported yet.

okleydoke, i have a superwhiz unix administrator mate, who has mapped the usb thing to make the system see it as scsi. the problem with having such a mate is that i don't know what he did to my computer by the way!
Anyway, it has got to the point where his linux machine can read from my cdrw drive (the usb one) but not write to it. My machine can only ping the usb drive and eject it et cetera, but can't even read from the drive, let alone write to it. no idea why.
well, i am stuck, and may not come back to this problem for a while. if and when i do though, i'll post my solution here, unless somebody else has a solution to post here first that is...:Pengy:

You'll need to have the usb mass storage modules loaded to read from your drive.
